Bruce Springsteen has released the latest edition to his Live Archives Series: his July 23, 2013, concert at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

The show was part of the European leg of his Wrecking Ball tour, with Springsteen archivist Erik Flannigan calling it “a rambunctious romp loaded with rarities.”

In addition to performances of classics like “Hungry Heart,” “Born to Run,” “Dancing in the Dark,” “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” and an acoustic “Thunder Road,” the show featured the one and only performance of “TV Movie,” from the Tracks box set, along with “Cynthia,” “Summertime Blues” and “Tougher Than The Rest.” There’s also a cover of The Animals‘ “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place,” featuring a guest appearance by The Animals’ Eric Burdon.

When news first emerged in late 1989 that the E Street Band had been dismissed indefinitely by Bruce Springsteen, it began nine years of uncertainty and speculation as to when, if ever, they would join forces again. They did come back together to record new material for Greatest Hits in 1995 and undertook a small series of promotional appearances in support of it, but the fact that they parted ways again without touring only made the odds of a full return feel even longer.

Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen (born September 23, 1949 in Long Branch, New Jersey) is an American rock singer, guitarist and composer. The bandleader of the E Street Band is an Oscar and Tony Award winner as well as a 20-time Grammy winner. Springsteen is extremely popular worldwide and one of the most commercially successful rock musicians ever. Springsteen has released 21 studio albums and about 350 original compositions. He has sold more than 70 million albums in the United States alone, and around 170 million worldwide, including DVDs. His songs are mostly about everyday American life. His nickname “The Boss” originated in the 1970s, when he paid the gage bar to his band members after the performances. Springsteen is known for its high-energy live concerts, which usually last three and a half to four hours.

Springsteen supported The Ghost of Tom Joad with a first-ever solo tour from 1995 to 1997. Being only the tenth show, Upper Darby 12/9/95 captures a seminal Joad performance in unadulterated form, showcasing his acoustic-guitar playing and evocative storytelling. Ten songs from Upper Darby were later serviced to radio stations by Columbia Records – this marks the first release of the complete 12/9/95 set which features all 12 songs from Joad, plus Bruce-as-troubadour readings of “Adam Raised a Cain” “Darkness On The Edge Of Town,” “Murder Incorporated,” “Blinded By The Light” and “Streets Of Philadelphia”.
