HSBC Arena, Buffalo, NY, 11/22/09 is a live album by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, released in November 2016. It is the eleventh official release through the Bruce Springsteen Archives. The show was originally recorded live at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, New York on November 22, 2009. It includes a complete performance of Springsteen’s debut album, Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. along with several other rarities. The show was the last to feature Clarence Clemons before his 2011 death and also was the last date on the Working on a Dream Tour.

It was Springsteen’s final show at the Philadelphia Spectrum, finishing a four-night stand at the venerable venue – a sort of last dance at the arena where he and his band had played 35 times in 36 years. Just 11 days later, the Spectrum was to close with a concert by Pearl Jam and be razed.

“On the 2007-08 Magic tour, fans began bringing song-request signs. Bruce seemed to revel in the challenge, while the suggestions also appeared to inspire him to resurrect songs he hadn’t played in decades. There’s no finer show to capture this fan-artist dynamic than this outstanding performance in St. Louis on 8/23/2008 including The Crystals’ “Then She Kissed Me” and Chuck Berry’s “Little Queenie”.

At 22 tracks, the final date in Philadelphia on Bruce Springsteen’s 1999 Reunion Tour with the E Street Band might appear short. After all, previous Archive Series selections from that year (Chicago and Los Angeles) featured 25 songs. But this show is stocked with lengthy ones, rarities, and a good deal of complexity. “Incident on 57th Street” and “New York City Serenade,” after all, take some time to unspool.
