Es ist eine Weltreise – und sogar ein wenig darüber hinaus, was der Philharmonische Kinderchor Dresden und das Vokalensemble amarcord hier gemeinsam unternehmen, nämlich durch die Welt des Liedes, wie Volkslieds, in eigens eingerichteten, faszinierenden Arrangements.
Der Philharmonische Kinderchor Dresden ist der Kinderchor der renommierten Dresdner Philharmoniker und einer der besten Kinderchöre Deutschlands. Die bisherigen Alben mit Weihnachtsliedern »Abendlieder« und »Am Weihnachtsbaum« wurden hochgelobt. Das neue Album ist eine ungewöhnliche, tolle Kombination, denn der Chor trifft auf eines der besten Vokalensembles Deutschland aus das Vokalensemble amarcord aus Leipzig. Gemeinsam gehen die exzellenten Ensembles auf musikalische Reise um die Welt und werden bei einigen Stücken von Instrumentalisten begeleitet. Die faszinierenden und abwechslungsreichen Arrangements traditioneller Lieder entführen in mehr als ein Dutzend Regionen rund um den Globus. Der Weg führt auch über Epochengrenzen hinweg, beginnend mit Orlando di Lassos »O là, o che bon eccho« in der italienischen Renaissance und einem französischen Hoftanz, der »Pavane«. Aber natürlich gibt es auch eine Reihe von beliebten deutschen Volksliedern, wie die »Vogelhochzeit«, »Jetzt fahr’n wir über’n See« oder »Ein Jäger längs dem Weiher ging«. Außerdem sind wunderschöne Lieder aus Skandinavien (»Vem kann segla«, »Northern Lights«), Polen (»Mironczarnia«), Ungarn (»Hej igazítsad«), Japan (»Natzu«, »Hotaru koi«) oder Amerika (»Shenandoah«, »Goza mi calipso«) zu hören. Given the length of his career, the indefatigable Joseph Haydn lived through the multiple upheavals of the musical world between the mid-eighteenth and the early nineteenth centuries, confronting all the problems of a rapidly changing art in order to adapt his activity as a composer to the evolution of his era. Having been deputy then full Kapellmeister to the Esterházy princes since 1761, he was relieved of his duties at the court following the death of Prince Nicholas ‘the Magnificent’ in 1790, after almost thirty years of faithful service, though retaining his title. At the age of nearly seventy, he then set out on an emancipatory trip to England, where his reputation had preceded him. He died in Vienna in 1809, respected throughout Europe. Like his string quartets, Haydn’s keyboard trios occupy a significant place in his catalogue.

Soghomon Soghomonian (1869–1935) took the name Komitas (or Gomidas) when he was ordained a priest in 1894; a year later he became Komitas Vardapet (doctor of theology) – one of the two names by which he is known to history. The other is ‘father of Armenian music’, since he collected thousands of songs from his compatriots, his fieldwork preserving and identifying the accent which makes the works of Armenian composers readily identifiable – as these piano trios prove: one twentieth-century classic and three new works, one of which completes the circle by recasting six of Komitas’ own folksong arrangements.

Since 1998, Trey Anastasio has toured and recorded with several backup musicians, including several side-projects organized and led by the guitarist and composer. While active, his bands did not have a name. Fans commonly referred to them as Trey Anastasio Band, or TAB for short. Through its brief history, Trey Anastasio’s band continued to add members, starting as a trio and ending as a dectet.
In the fall of 2012 Trey’s touring band, Trey Anastasio Band, returned to the road in support of Traveler, which also features many members of the band. From it’s beginnings in 1998 the band has included original members Russ Lawton (drums), and Tony Markellis (bass), and over the years has added Cyro Baptista (percussion), Ray Paczkowski (keys), Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet, vocals), Natalie Cressman (trombone, vocals). The latest tour featured new-comer James Casey (saxophones, vocals).
