The Incident is the tenth album by Porcupine Tree. It was released on 14 September 2009 by Roadrunner Records.

The concept of The Incident emerged as Steven Wilson was caught in a motorway traffic jam whilst driving past a road accident:

“There was a sign saying ‘POLICE – INCIDENT’ and everyone was slowing down to see what had happened… Afterwards, it struck me that ‘incident’ is a very detached word for something so destructive and traumatic for the people involved. And then I had the sensation that the spirit of someone that had died in the accident entered into my car and was sitting next to me. The irony of such a cold expression for such seismic events appealed to me, and I began to pick out other ‘incidents’ reported in the media and news, I wrote about the evacuation of teenage girls from a religious cult in Texas, a family terrorizing its neighbours, a body found floating in a river by some people on a fishing trip, and more. Each song is written in the first person and tries to humanize the detached media reportage.”

A live radio broadcast made on 6th April 2001 for Polish Radio Program III, Warsaw in front of an invited audience. The broadcast was subsequently CD bootlegged in 2003, which led to the band releasing their own version on the Transmission label in 2004. However, rather than using the live on air stereo mix, the official CD was remixed from the 32 channel multitrack ADAT tapes.

Closure/Continuation is the upcoming eleventh studio album by British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree. The album is their first since 2009’s The Incident. After much public uncertainty on the band’s future after their 2010 hiatus announcement, the album was recorded off and on in complete secrecy among members Steven Wilson, Gavin Harrison, and Richard Barbieri across the 2010s, without long-time bassist Colin Edwin. With the COVID-19 pandemic putting member’s separate plans on hold, the band found time to completely finish the album in September 2021. Towards the end of the year, the band’s reformation was announced, alongside the album’s release date of 24 June 2022. Four singles were released ahead of the album—”Harridan”, “Of the New Day”, “Herd Culling”, and “Rats Return”.

For the first time since their original release, they have also been remastered by PT songwriter and frontman, Steven Wilson. The new mastering has considerably less compression and limiting for a more dynamic listening experience. In Absentia was the band’s seventh studio album, first released in 2002, and was the first in a run of 3 albums that for many represent the pinnacle of the band’s artistic achievements. It was something of a breakthrough for the band, selling three times more than previous releases. Following on from 2000’s Lightbulb Sun it had a distinctly heavier tone, partly due to the addition of legendary drummer Gavin Harrison, and was also their first for major label Lava / Atlantic Records. In Absentia features many of Porcupine Tree’s most loved songs including “Trains”, “The Sound of Muzak” and “Blackest Eyes”. While not a formal concept album, many of the songs have common themes related to serial killers, youthful innocence gone wrong, and observations of the modern world, setting a template for many of Wilson’s future songs. These new vinyl editions will be released on double heavyweight audiophile 180g black vinyl presented in gatefold packaging.

Up the Downstair is the second studio album by British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, first released in May 1993. It was originally intended to be a double album set including the song “Voyage 34”, which was instead released as a single in 1992, and other material that ended up on the Staircase Infinities EP (1994). In 2005, it was partially re-recorded, fully re-mixed, remastered and re-released along with the Staircase Infinities EP as a double album. The re-release contains a new mix by Steven Wilson, along with recorded drums by Gavin Harrison that replace the electronic drums of the original version. Steven Wilson has stated that the title of the album came from a line in the song “Voyage 34.” There is still a title track, however. Another re-release on double vinyl was pressed on 14 August 2008 on Kscope records. This is identical to the 2005 release, except it is printed on coloured vinyl and the Staircase Infinities disc contains the song “Phantoms”.

According to Wilson, Up the Downstair channeled “the Orb and the Future Sound of London, but also Floyd and Ozric Tentacles. If I liked it, I didn’t give a fuck.”

A few days after filming the concert in The Netherlands that would later be released as Anesthetize, Porcupine Tree wound up a nine date mini tour (and the Fear of a Blank Planet album cycle), with this hometown show. At least two of the band are sick and there are some rough edges, but perhaps with the knowledge that the film is in the can, this spirited performance has a looser and more relaxed feel to other shows with similar repertoire from this period.

Featuring remastered stereo, additional studio recordings and unreleased demos.

In Absentia was Porcupine Tree’s seventh studio album, first released in 2002, and was the first in a run of three albums that for many represent the pinnacle of the band’s artistic achievements. Not many albums can claim to have created a new genre, but with its fusion of metal, progressive rock, ambient textures, and acoustic singer-songwriter styled material, it became something of a blueprint for a generation of bands to come. It was also something of a breakthrough for the band, eventually going on to sell three times more than the band’s previous releases. In Absentia features many of Porcupine Tree’s most beloved songs, including “Trains”, “The Sound of Muzak” and “Blackest Eyes”. While not a formal concept album, many of the songs have common themes related to serial killers, youthful innocence gone wrong, and observations of the modern world, setting a template for many of songwriter Steven Wilson’s future songs.

This new deluxe version of In Absentia provides an unrivalled insight into the context of the seminal album. The first disc features Steven Wilson’s 2017 remaster, which has considerably less compression and limiting for a more dynamic listening experience.

The second disc includes all of the additional finished studio recordings the band made during the period. “Collapse (intro)”, “Drown With Me”, “Chloroform”, and “Meantime” were all recorded during the album sessions in New York, while “Futile” and “Orchidia” come from the post-album promo-only Futile EP. Radio edits of “Trains”, “Blackest Eyes” and “Strip the Soul” are also included.

The third disc comprises over 70 minutes of demos recorded at Wilson’s home studio during the two years leading up to recording the album. Many of the selections differ from the final versions, with additional sections, alternate lyrics, and different arrangements. Also included are demos of three songs that were not subsequently recorded by the band, all released here for the first time: “Imogen Slaughter”, “Watching You Sleep”, and “Enough”.

An almost complete recording of the first ever live performance of Porcupine Tree. After the newly assembled band line-up had rehearsed for one week, they played 4 times in quick succession. This nervous but spirited show at a sold-out Nag’s Head club in High Wycombe was the first, followed by a BBC radio session, and modestly attended shows in London and Coventry.

This download comprises a complete 2 hour live performance from the Fear of a Blank Planet tour. The show was recorded and mixed to the usual PT standards in order to provide material for a planned live album, but when the decision was taken to film much of the same repertoire in Holland for a major DVD release instead, the Atlanta recording ended up back in the vault. Now PT have decided to make it available in complete form as a download only release. Although the repertoire is similar to that on the Anesthetize DVD, the performance has its own atmosphere, and also includes the first ever officially released live recording of “A Smart Kid”.

Staircase Infinities is a studio EP by British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, first released in December 1994 as a limited 2,000-copy 10″ vinyl by Lazy Eye and reissued on CD by Blueprint in the UK in October 1995. It contains outtakes from the Up the Downstair sessions.

Originally, Staircase Infinities was intended to be released on a double album version of Up the Downstair but was not completed in time. Up the Downstair was therefore released as a single album in 1993 but was reissued in an expanded version in 2005 (with recorded drums by Gavin Harrison that replace the electronic drums of the original version), this time including the EP Staircase Infinities.
