All Summer Long closed the first chapter of the Beach Boys musical story in 1964: the last of the innocent, carefree odes to surfing and hot rods, it yielded the group’s first American number one hit, I Get Around. The title track, while never released as a single, has become an eternal favourite and was ranked number six in a Rolling Stone readers poll of the 10 greatest summer songs.

Let’s go back 50 years. In 1967, the Beach Boys were the kings of American pop. Heavyweights who managed to evolve the thrilling surf music of their early days towards much more complex, daring and crazy skies, most notably with their masterpiece Pet Sounds, released in May 1966. In December 1967, Wild Honey showed yet another facet of Brian Wilson’s gang. This thirteenth album’s sessions, albeit not as essential as Pet Sounds, were intense and disconcerting as evidenced by 1967 – Sunshine Tomorrow. Released in June 2017, it features the album’s comprehensive mix complemented by previously unpublished recording sessions as well as sessions from Smiley Smile and the Lei’d in Hawaii live. In concrete terms, the first CD features Wild Honey’s new stereo mix as well as twenty previously unpublished takes from the album’s recording sessions. The second CD focuses on Smiley Smile, which was released three months prior to Wild Honey, in September of 1967. It comprises ten previously unpublished alternative takes as well as Lei’d In Hawaii. Finally, this second CD features eight live tracks never heard before, as well as a few more oddities, such as Surf’s Up’s 1967 version. Overall, 1967 – Sunshine Tomorrow constitutes an essential piece for Beach Boys fans.

This 1969 release fared much better in the UK than it did in the US, spawning the number one British hit Do It Again and a top 10 cover of Phil Spector’s I Can Hear Music, while the album itself peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart. Recorded largely without Brian Wilson, who was hospitalized at the time, 20/20 allows his brothers Dennis and Carl to come to the forefront as songwriters, vocalists and producers.

15 Big Ones is the 20th studio album by American rock group The Beach Boys released in July 1976. It comprises cover versions of rock and roll and rhythm and blues standards, along with a few new originals. The album was met with mixed reviews, but the highest sales the band had for a new studio album in many years, peaking at number 8 on the weekly Billboard albums chart.

Surfin’ Safari is the debut album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released October 1, 1962 on Capitol Records. The official production credit went to Nick Venet, though it was Brian Wilson with his father Murry who contributed substantially to the album’s production; Brian also wrote or co-wrote nine of its 12 tracks.[2] The album reached number 32 in the US during a chart stay of 37 weeks.

Also included are dozens of studio and live bonus tracks, sessions and alternate versions.

Produced by engineer Mark Linett and Brother Records archive manager Alan Boyd, it was released by Capitol/UME on December 2, 2022. The title is taken from the Holland track “Sail On, Sailor”.
